Compared to standard POF, which typically supports transmission over shorter ranges (around 50–100 meters), PF-POF can achieve longer reach, making it suitable for medium-range applications in network backbones or industrial facilities.
PF-POF fibers are highly resistant to high temperatures and chemicals, thanks to the stable nature of perfluorinated materials. This makes PF-POF suitable for environments with extreme conditions, such as chemical processing plants, automotive under-hood applications, and industrial automation.
PF-POF can operate in temperature ranges where standard PMMA-based fibers would degrade, typically in environments up to 85–100°C.
The perfluorinated materials in PF-POF provide excellent resistance to ultraviolet light and moisture, making them suitable for outdoor and high-humidity environments. This durability helps maintain data integrity in applications like outdoor telecommunications.
Like other optical fibers, PF-POF is immune to electromagnetic interference, which is beneficial for applications that require clean, interference-free signal transmission, such as in medical and aerospace environments or around heavy machinery.
