N-Methoxy-N-Methylacetamide (CAS 78191-00-1), also known as Weinreb amide, is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a molecular formula of C4H9NO2. This amide has different reaction characteristics from general amides. It can react with organolithium reagents or Grignard reagents to produce ketones in high yields, and can also be reduced by lithium aluminum hydride to produce aldehydes, so it can be used as an excellent acylation reagent and as a carbonyl equivalent.
