The air conditioning pressure sensor is one of the most important sensors in the automotive refrigeration system. It is mainly used to monitor the refrigerant pressure in the air conditioning pipeline, prevent abnormal pressure from damaging the compressor, and control the opening and closing of the cooling fan and compressor in conjunction with other functional components. The air conditioning pressure sensor is generally installed on the high-pressure pipeline of the air conditioning system in the engine compartment. The pressure signal it collects is mainly output to the engine ECU or air conditioning control unit. After receiving a normal signal, the ECU will issue instructions to control the compressor and cooling fan to turn on. If an abnormal pressure signal is received, it will issue instructions to refuse to turn on the compressor and other air conditioning equipment to avoid damage to the refrigeration system. After the air conditioning pressure sensor is damaged, it will cause faults such as no cooling in the car, compressor not working, or repeated start stop, and the corresponding fault codes will be stored in the engine ECU or air conditioning control module. Generally speaking, air conditioning pressure sensors are mostly three wire type, and the control methods are roughly divided into three types, namely analog signal, Lin bus, and duty cycle control. Three wire analog signal control type: The three wires of this sensor are defined as sensor power supply, grounding, and analog signal. When judging the quality, a multimeter can be used to measure. The black probe is grounded, and the red probe is used to detect the three wires on the sensor. One sensor power wire is 5V, one sensor ground wire is 0V, and one sensor pressure signal is 1V. After turning on the AC, the voltage will gradually increase with the air conditioning pressure, with a specific voltage range between 0.5V and 4.5V. Three wire Lin bus signal control type: The three wires of this sensor are defined as the sensor power supply, ground, and Lin bus control signal. Using a multimeter to measure, the black probe is grounded and the red probe is used to detect the three wires on the sensor. One sensor power wire is 12V, one sensor ground wire is 0V, and one sensor Lin bus signal changes between 9V and 11V. The voltage changes are basically the same when unplugged and plugged in. Three wire duty cycle signal control type: The three wires of this sensor are defined as the sensor power supply, ground, and duty cycle control signal (duty cycle refers to the proportion of high and low voltage in one cycle). When judging the quality, a multimeter can be used to measure. The black probe is grounded, and the red probe is used to detect the three wires on the sensor. One sensor power wire is 12V, one sensor ground wire is 0V, and one sensor duty cycle control signal varies between 1V~5V (when plugged in), and the higher the pressure, the higher the voltage. When unplugged, the voltage of the duty cycle signal wire is generally around 12V.
