The traction motor in electric vehicle is responsible for converting the electric energy to mechanical energy which is used in propulsion of vehicle in a straight-line motion. Electric vehicle traction motor is used in electrical transmission system like electric hybrid vehicles and battery powered electric vehicles. Inside every electric motor is a stationary stator with a rotor spinning inside it. The stator is made of copper wire coils. When an electric current flows through these coils, a rotating magnetic field is created in the stator which causes the rotor to spin. The rotational movement is based on a simple physical principle: opposite poles in a magnet attract each Others, whereas like poles repel. Consisting of a stator and a rotor, a motor core plays a pivotal role in generating electricity within a motor.
