Erbium-doped fiber amplifier is a kind of fiber amplifier, which adds erbium ions to the fiber core. It is characterized by high gain and low noise, independent of polarization and can amplify optical signals in 1.55 m or 1.58 m bands. WDM technology greatly increases the capacity of optical fiber communication and has become the most widely used optical amplifiers in optical fiber communication.
Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers can be divided into two main types, single-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifiers and polarization-maintaining erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. In 2019, 61.8% of the global market is occupied by single-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. China has a market share of 63.70%, which is similar to the global market share.
The region where the product is produced the most in 2019 is North America, producing about 30% of the erbium-doped fiber amplifier that year, followed by Europe, which produced about 26%.
