Ireland is an island in the Atlantic which is off the north-western coast of Europe. The capital and the largest city of Ireland is Dublin, which is located in the east, and Dublin is a metropolitan area which has population of about 4.6 million. The state shares its only land border with Northern Ireland, one of the constituent countries of the United Kingdom. Politically Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Republic of Ireland covers almost 5/6th of the island and the remaining is Northern Ireland which is a part of the UK. The population of Ireland is approximately 6.4 million, in which almost 4.6 million live in the Republic of Ireland and the remaining live in Northern Ireland.
